APLblog keeps your identity private

* An APL survivor emailed me to ask about privacy concerns if she chooses to participate or post on APLblog.
Dear D,
Web systems like blogs, discussion forums, and even listserv’s like the Yahoo system you mentioned all include safeguards to protect the participant’s privacy. You can choose whether others can see your email address or real name within any of these types of systems.
APLblog doesn’t ask for anything more than a “nickname” when you sign up to participate. You decide if you would like to use your real name – etc. The importance of your story is the same for everyone – regardless of your name.
Each APL patient has a story to tell that would interest many others. What is your APL story? I would be very pleased if you could post your survivor story into our blog.
One of the overall objectives of aplblog.org will be to increase awareness of APL and more importantly, blood cancer disorders in general, to the general public. Eventually with more awareness maybe we could even help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
